Cappuccino, flat white or latte? The milk ratios, with a layer builder

A cappuccino, a flat white and a latte are the same espresso with a different amount and texture of milk. A cappuccino is roughly a third espresso, a third milk and a third thick foam. A flat white is smaller and silkier, and a latte is mostly hot milk.

Use the layer builder to see how each cup divides up by volume, then find out why the milk texture matters more than the numbers, how much caffeine is in the cup, and what to look for in a milk frother.
