How is alcohol-free beer made? Four routes, and a label check for 0.0% and 0.5%
Alcohol-free beer sounds like a contradiction, because yeast makes the alcohol and the flavour. Brewers get round it in four ways: stop the fermentation early, take the alcohol out afterwards, dilute a strong beer, or skip the yeast altogether.
Pick a route in the interactive to see the steps, what each one does to body, aroma and sweetness, and where the strength usually ends up. Then check your own bottle: what 0.0% and 0.5% really mean, and how much pure alcohol is left.
